| The Town of North Kingstown has
completed a feasibility
study for a bike path to extend from Town Hall on Boston Neck Road to the
Quonset Davisville area at Newcomb Road. This
2.5-mile path could include both off-road shared use paths and on-road striped
shoulders. Destinations potentially
linked along this route include the Town Hall, Wickford Elementary, the North
Kingstown Free Library, Wilson Park, Smith’s Castle and the YMCA as well as
Post Road businesses and local neighborhoods. The Town held a series of meetings with the public, with
residents and businesses along the route, with the North Kingstown Free Library Board
of Directors, with the School Department, and other town departments to discuss
issues at the earliest stage.

This report primarily outlines
the public participation process followed to date, the environmental constraints
and opportunities identified along the study corridor, alternative
alignments and options for the proposed bike path along with proposed recommendations for
each of these options. Also available are the graphics associated with the

figures numbered 6.1 through 6.4 depict the preferred alignment
that is being forwarded
to the North Kingstown Town Council for their consideration.
