North
Kingstown has recently developed Conservation Development regulations for the
Town. The Planning Commission and
the Town Council adopted changes to the Town’s Comprehensive Plan, allowing
for Conservation Design in North Kingstown.
Both the Planning Department and the Planning Commission believe that the
new regulations will be an incredibly valuable device in the
Town’s regulatory tool box that offer land owners and developers new
development scenario options. The
regulations also reduce development and maintenance costs during
the development process, the construction, and throughout the life of the
development while having an end product of well designed subdivisions that
protect open space and the character of the Town.
The
process of developing the Conservation Development regulations has included
workshop meetings and public hearings with both the Planning Commission and the
Town Council. There have also been
meetings with representatives of the development community and the farming
community.
The
adopted Conservation Development
regulations are available below.
