  •  Stay abreast of all our activites for male or females of any age... Email Al Southwick ( asouthwick@northkingstown.org ) today and tell him you want to join the email distribution list. For childrens activities we will need your email, your child's name, date of birth and school he/she is  attending. For adult programs we will need your name and email. Either way you will be notified as soon as a new  event or activity is scheduled!

 

 

  • Looking for a hall to rent for an event your planning?Feel free to contact us about our Cold Spring Community Center with several different rental options including but not limited to a band stand, tables and chairs, different room sizes, and kitchen option all with a beautiful view of the stunning North Kingstown Town Beach!   • Attnetion to Community Center Renters!! Effective SEPTEMBER 1, 2016 there will be a refundable deposit due when you book your event $25.00 room key fee that you will recieve back when returning the key and a $75.00 refundable damage deposit to cover any damages or cleaning that is necessary after your departure. FOR YOUNGSTERS ON THE MOVE

Ages 18 months – PreK

 ENROLL YOUR CHILD IN A PROGRAM THAT USES A FUN AND EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT TO DEVELOP COORDINATION, MOTOR SKILLS, SELF-EXPRESSION, AND COOPERATION SKILL  

You can register your child at the Recreation Department, 100Fairway DR, NK, 02852 or by Mail to the Rec Dept. Former students may register by email: mcroteau2@verizion.net and mail fee to the recreation dept. Registration is also available online at the top of this page. Registration will continue until classes are full.  Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Yoga is available year round at the Cold Spring Community Center Monday's 8:30am-10:00am & 6:30-8:00pm & Wednesday 6:30-8:00pm

  • After Work Exercise Classes

Every week is something different!  Join us for dancing, weight lifting, aerobics, stretching, chair exercises and some town chatter to share what else is going on locally!
Anyone is welcome!
Try the class for the first time for free, after that it is ONLY $5.00 per session

  • How to Be a Great Babysitter! ($80.00)

October 2 & 3, 2017    5:30-8:30pm
 The 2 class session will be held at The Community Center, 30 Beach Street  
Course is recommended for ages 11 years and older.  Fee: $80.00 per person which includes book, certificate and CPR card.
The classes are fast paced, interactive and fun! Lots of “hands on” practice using adult and infant mannequins. Games and role play are used throughout the program to enhance learning.
 
 
 

  • NK COMMUNITY YOUTH CHORUS (FEE $28)

SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE
At The Suzanne M. Henseler Quidnessett Elementary School, 166 Mark Drive, North Kingstown, RI 02852. September 19, 2017: 5:30-6:30 PM. Registration and first rehearsal for the Youth Chorus. The Youth Chorus is open to children in grades 2-6 from all communities. A registration and music fee of $28 is due at the first rehearsal. The annual Winter Concert is December 2 and 3, 2017.   • CROSS COUNTRY ($50.00)

Cross Country (for Ages 6 and up) begins MONDAY SEPTEMBER 11, 2017 through Wednesday November 1, 2017.
(REGISTRATION CONTINUES THROUGHOUT THE SEASON)
Focus is on improving strength, speed, overall fitness level, and endurance and will include lots of trail running.
Location:   Ryan Park, Men’s Field on Oak Hill Road
Practices: Mondays and Wednesdays, 6-7 PM. Season runs through November
Cost: $50/child, $125 max per family

You do not have to be a great runner to do this! Naturally, talent helps but anyone who is willing to work hard can be successful in cross country.  If you just want to come out for the conditioning, you are welcome. Parents welcome to run with us.
 
 
 

 

  • FIELD HOCKEY PROGRAM

IS LOCATED INDOORS AT THE WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS, 1610 DAVISVILLE ROAD, NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI 02852.
THE LEAD INSTRUCTOR IS DINA BOGOSIAN WHO HAS COACHED HIGH SCHOOL FIELD HOCKEY AND HAS BEEN WITH NORTH KINGSTOWN RECREATION FOR SEVEN EXCITING YEARS.
THE FEE TO PARTICIPATE IS $75 WHICH INCLUDES A MOUTHPIECE AND T-SHIRT. WE PROVIDE STICKS, BALLS AND GOGGLES.
BENEFITS OF THIS PROGRAM ARE PLENTY OF EXERCISE, TEAM PLAY, IMPROVED EYE-HAND COORDINATION, FUN, AND POSSIBLE VARSITY PLAY BECAUSE THIS IS A HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS’ SPORT. NORTH KINGSTOWN IS CONSISTENTLY ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL TEAMS IN RHODE ISLAND WINNING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST TWENTY YEARS.

THE NORTH KINGSTOWN RECREATION DEPARTMENT WILL OFFER ART CLASSES BEGINNING ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28THAT THE COLD SPRING COMMUNITY CENTER AT THE TOWN BEACH. CLASS DAYS ARE THURSDAY FOR GRADES 3-5 AND SATURDAY AGES 4/5 THROUGH 2ND GRADE. TIME VARIES DEPENDING ON AGE.

 

Ann-Marie Lafrenaye IS OUR NEW INSTRUCTOR she is a local artist and crafter who has been creating and making things for over thirty years.  Her main passion is quilling, in which, she makes paint like pictures and 3D figures with something as simple as strips of paper and glue. She has since taken on painting, sculpting and jewelry work.

Her desire to learn all art forms has given her a need and passion to teach others. She wants to be able to bring the artistic experience to everyone she teaches. Ann-Marie believes that Art can take you to so many place. But, more importantly she feels that art has a healing quality as well as being able building confidence and bring imaginations to life.

She believes that, “Being able to make something from your imagination is empowering for both your mind, soul and spirit.”

 

Things you can expect in this 5 week program include (but are not limited to):

·        Quilling; and

·        Mini art journals; and

·        Bottle aquariums; and

·        Cloths pin puppets; and

·        Watercolor paintings; and

·        Mixed media painting with a twist; and

·        Collage art; and

·        Bottle Piggy banks; and

·         Recyclable art.

This NEW FALL Camp is a 4 week session held on Saturdays at NKHS Tennis courts from 8:30am-10:30am.

This camp is geared for ages 6-16.

Camp Options:

 

Ø  Youth Camp

The camp will focus on technique, strategy, fitness and match play.   All abilities are welcome. (Recommended ages 10-16)

                      

Ø  Quick Start Camp

Quick Start encourages young players to develop a love for the game by using proportional court, racket and ball size to a player's age.   10 and under players will be able to jump straight into learning the dynamics of how to rally and the strategy needed to play points. (Recommended ages 5-10)
