Effective SEPTEMBER 1, 2016 there will be a refundable deposit due when you book your event $25.00 room key fee that you will recieve back when returning the key and a $75.00 refundable damage deposit to cover any damages or cleaning that is necessary after your departure. Yoga

Yoga is available year round at the Cold Spring Community Center Monday's 8:30am-10:00am & 6:30-8:00pm & Wednesday 6:30-8:00pm

 

Cost is $15.00 for a drop in or $110.00 for 10 classes. Hope to see you there!


 


 

 

After Work Exercise Classes

Starting back up on Monday March 6th!

Every week is something different!  Join us for dancing, weight lifting, aerobics, stretching, chair exercises and some town chatter to share what else is going on locally!

Anyone is welcome!

Try the class for the first time for free, after that it is ONLY $5.00 per session

GIRL’S LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL


mail the form and check made to: Town of North Kingstown to Girl’s Softball, 100 Fairway Drive, North Kingstown, RI 02852. Or, you can also go to our Town Website, www.northkingstown.org to register and pay all fees.
Age cutoff is January 1st. If a player turns 13 after January 1st this year she is considered 12
These leagues are comprised of teams from North Kingstown and East Greenwich.
There four leagues for the Girls:

Little League Majors is for ages 9 to 12. Generally, games will be on Tuesday and Thursday, although there could be some Friday games. They will be played at 5 or 5:30 PM and on occasion there will be a 7 PM game at Ryan Park.
Minor League for 8-11 year olds is also available for those new to the sport or those who may not feel ready to play in the Majors. Games will be on Mondays and Wednesdays about 5 or 5:30 PM.


 Coach Pitch for 6 to 8 year olds who want to get started. This league is also combined with East Greenwich. They will play on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 PM.


Regional Town Play for the 13 to 16 olds. They play on Wednesday Evenings and Sunday Afternoons. North Kingstown, East Greenwich, South Kingstown and Narragansett form the league.


FEES: The fee to participate is $75.
UNIFORMS: New players will need to purchase a uniform for about $60. This should last a few years until they outgrow it or wear it out. The uniform consists of shorts, compression shorts, socks, kneepads, visor and T-shirt.
SCHEDULE: Games begin in late April and end in mid June. Practice will begin as soon as weather allows although we may workout inside for a few weeks.
PROOF OF AGE: If a new player, please bring a copy of your birth certificate.

 

NEW SPRING TENNIS CAMP

                             a 4 week session held on Saturdays at NKHS Tennis courts from 8:30am-10:30am. Bring your own gear!

 

This camp is geared for ages 6-16. 

Camp Dates are as Follows: April 22 & 29, May 13 & 20

Camp Options:

  Youth Camp

The camp will focus on technique, strategy, fitness and match play.   All abilities are welcome. (Recommended ages 10-16)                      

  Quick Start Camp

Quick Start encourages young players to develop a love for the game by using proportional court, racket and ball size to a player's age.   10 and under players will be able to jump straight into learning the dynamics of how to rally and the strategy needed to play points. (Recommended ages 5-10)

 

 North Kingstown Dramatics Presents INTO THE WOODS!

 This program is designed to introduce students to basic acting techniques including the use of voice, body and facial expressions as well as body limbering and stretching. The students will also be introduced to set design and construction, costuming, programs, lights and sound. Whether the student is one who likes to be "center stage" or prefers to work behind the scenes, there is something for every student interested in theater. Classes will culminate in a full-scale production to be held at NK High School. Students enrolled in classes are not compelled to participate in the production. Note: Only those who enroll and attend in the classes will be allowed to audition. **Must be a North Kingstown Resident to participate**

Tech Rehearsal /NKHS *Performers must be available for a mandatory tech rehearsals at the
high school June 22nd & 23rd 2015 -- 5:00-9:00pm.
Performances: June 24, 2017 Saturday, 7pm

 

SPRING TRACK

BEGINS ON MONDAY, APRIL 24th AND ENDS ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7th (no track 5/15) ON THE NORTH KINGSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL TRACK. IF THERE IS A SCHOOL EVENT ON THE TRACK THAT CONFLICTS WITH OUR SCHEDULE WE WILL USE THE FIELD IN FRONT OF NKHS TENNIS COURTS. THE PRACTICES ARE ON MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS, 6:30 PM TO 7:30 PM. THE FEE TO JOIN IS $50. NK REC RUNNING TSHIRTS ARE AVAILABLE AT PRACTICES FOR $8. FAMILY MAX FOR PROGRAM IS $100. (t-shirts not included)

 

THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR YOUTH 6 YEARS AND UP (AGE IS ON DECEMBER 31, 2017). THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN THE SKILLS AND EVENTS OF TRACK AND FIELD.  INCLUDED WILL BE THE SPRINTS, HURDLES, MIDDLE AND LONGER DISTANCE RUNS, AND INSTRUCTION FOR FIELD EVENTS LIKE THE LONG JUMP, HIGH JUMP, AND THROWS ASSOCIATED WITH TRACK.  PARTICIPANTS WILL ALSO LEARN WORKOUTS FOR THESE EVENTS AND OVERALL CONDITIONING.

North Kingstown Arts Council presents: The Summer Concert Series Tuesdays at the Town Beach. Bring Seating. RAIN LOCATION: NK High School. The concerts are free; donations are accepted.  Scheduled performers; STARTING AT 7PM: June 6 – Brass Attack, June 13 – New 40, June 20 – Paula Claire, June 27 – Gov Own 88th, July 11 – Driftwoods, July 18 – NE Groove,  July 25 - Black Tie Band,  August 1 – The URI Jazz Concert Celebrating 125 years.  BEGINNING AT 6:30PM: August 8 –  Avenue A, August 15 –  RI Redneck.

 

Children’s Entertainment Series on Thursdays, starting at 6:30PM at the Town Beach. Bring a lawn chair, picnic basket and friends. RAIN LOCATION: Cold Spring Community Center at Town Beach. How to Be a Great Babysitter! JUNE 5 & 7, 2017 5:30-8:30pm


The 2 class session will be held at The Community Center, 30 Beach Street


Course is recommended for ages 11 years and older.


Fee: $75.00 per person which includes book, certificate and CPR card

The classes are fast paced, interactive and fun! Lots of “hands on” practice using adult and

infant mannequins. Games and role play are used throughout the program to enhance learning.

Missoula Childrens Theatre: Beauty Lou and The Country Beast

Make sure that you can be available to fulfill this commitment. The audition, for six through sixteen year olds, will be on Monday, August 14th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Cold Spring Community Center at the Town Beach. THOSE WHO ARE CHOSEN WILL HAVE TO SIGN A WAIVER AND HELP DEFRAY A PORTION OF THE COST. THE FEE WILL BE $60. Rehearsals will be scheduled 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM (1/2 hour off for lunch) on August 14th (immediately following the audition), and the afternoons of August 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th (full dress rehearsal at North Kingstown High School). Although not all cast members will be needed for every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and be able to attend any rehearsals necessary for their role. The performances will be at North Kingstown High School at 4 PM and 7 PM on Saturday, August 19TH. We are sure many of you will want to be a part of this great tradition. It will be fun and rewarding! Tickets can be purchased for $10 (open seating) each after May 1st. Make checks to: Town of North Kingstown and mail to the address below. We encourage those who are not in the play to attend the performance.

 

 Yoga For Teen Girls


Join us for this NEW six week teen yoga series with Tedessa Doff!
Tedessa will teach a strong vinyasa flow, connecting breath with movement. Other great health benefits include fostering self-awareness, self-compassion and an overall feeling of wellbeing during a pivotal time of a girl's life. Participants will learn to use their breath to ease stress and calm the mind, in the peaceful setting of The North Kingstown Town Beach.

This class is targeted for girls ages 12+.
Every Wednesday 5:30-6:30pm
JULY 12th – August 16th


Location: Cold Spring Community, 30 Beach Street on the grassy area near the band stand
Cost for the 6 week program is $50.00

 

 JUNIOR GOLF SCHOOL

 AGES: Six and up.


FEE: $115 per student if paid by June 19th, $140 if paid after June 19th.


DATES: The school will be conducted once a week for five weeks beginning Wednesday, June 28th and running through Thursday,

July 27th. You will have a choice of either a Wednesday or Thursday session.


TIMES: Classes begin at 4:30 sharp and last one hour and fifteen minutes.


CONTENT: The school will provide instruction in etiquette, grip and stance, iron shots, wood shots, chipping and putting, and wedge and bunker play.


CLUBS: If your child has their own clubs they should bring them to each session. The golf shop stocks individual junior clubs and sets at very reasonable prices. These work much better than cut down adult clubs.


GROUPS: One instructor per 10 students, so the class sizes will be limited. Classes will be split up primarily by age.


TEACHERS: The instruction will be led by PGA Professionals John Rainone and Brian Owens, who will be assisted by members of the golf shop staff.

 

 
Be Safe When Home Alone!


Pizza Party Dinner will be provided


This class, a must for children 10 – 14 years of age, will help prepare your child to safely stay at home alone when necessary. Topics include: internet safety, telephone and fire safety, elements of first aid and steps to take in an emergency. Course material is presented in a relaxed and interactive format. Students will learn through role playing, games and acting out emergency situations. This course is taught by registered nurses who will teach your children how to play it safe!


MONDAY JULY 10TH 2017        5:00 – 8:00pm


The instructor for this course is Catherine Alexander RN, DNP. She is a registered nurse with over 25 years of health care experience and a mother of four teens. She brings a unique and extensive level of expertise and personal insights to this program.

SUMMER BAND PROGRAM 2017


We are pleased to be able to provide a summer band program for beginner to intermediate level students this year. Michael Iadevaia, the band and strings teacher at Wickford Middle School will conduct the program on Tuesday nights at the Cold Spring Community Center. Students already playing instruments through the schools or private instruction are encouraged to join. As we all know, practice over the summer is strongly recommended and this will hopefully make it fun and educational.


August 1,2, 3, 8, 9 &10

 


4:00 to 5:00 PM: (Beginner) This will be for band students entering sixth grade who started their instrument in fifth grade or who have been playing an instrument with a private instructor for one year. This would include older students who may be starting a second (or third) instrument.

5:15 to 6:15 PM: (Intermediate) This second session wo

uld be open to band students entering grades 7 through 9.

 

 

 

NK Rec Department's FREE Pickleball Clinics & Round Robin! Back By Popular Demand What is

PICKLEBALL you ask? Pickle ball is played on a badminton sized court with a tennis sized net

and an oversized ping pong ball!

 

All equipment is provided but feel free to bring your own!

 

We will be offering beginners clinicsto come learn how to play on Mondays: May 8, 15 and 22 at

4:00pm at Wilson Park (weather permitting). This is a great opportunity for you to come try out

the sport!

 

The round robin play will be held Mondays at Wilson Park 3:30-5:30pm (weather permitting)
