Seabreeze Dining/Nutrition Services

Seabreeze Dining

Our Seabreeze Dining Room overlooks beautiful Narragansett Bay in historic Wickford. Healthy Starts Breakfast and nutritionally balanced hot lunches are served Monday through Friday. If you prefer a lighter meal, sandwiches are also served daily. For this month’s luncheon menu, click on Menu.

The primary goal of the program is to promote good health.  However, many people say the best part is making new friends and being reunited with past friends.

At Seabreeze Dining, holidays are celebrated with special meals such as St. Patrick's Day with Corned Beef and Cabbage. There is also a special monthly birthday luncheon with cake and ice cream. Beechwood Cafe' will  offer salad and sandwiches as an alternative for diners between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm at market rates.  No reservations are needed.

Healthy Starts Breakfast is available from 9:30am to 11:00am. Oatmeal Bars or Hot Oatmeal cost: $.25 each. Cold Cereal cost: $.25 each. Yogurt cost: $.50 each.   Fresh fruit (when available) cost: $.25 each.

Seabreeze Dining is for persons 60 years of age and older. Persons may also participate if they are under 60 if married to a person over 60. Persons may also attend if they are disabled and under 60. Guests may attend who are under 60 years for the full price of $3.50.

Diners contribute to the cost of luncheon and special celebrations according to their ability to donate, but no one is refused a meal if they cannot afford the suggested donation of  $3.00.

Meal reservations may be made by contacting the Seabreeze Dining Room at 268-1592.

(9:30am-1:30pm) two days in advance and one week for holiday meals.

Transportation can also be arranged.

Volunteers are needed at Seabreeze Dining to both help in the kitchen and serve meals. If interested, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Joan McCabe at 294-3331 Ext: 408 seniorvolunteer@northkingstown.org.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is a vital and well-established program in North Kingstown. While we are able to provide meals for between 40-50 individuals on any given day, during the course of a month we will average serving 40 different individuals. This service attempts to solve some of the problems presented by older persons or the handicapped who are homebound. Convalescents can also be served, which enable them to return to their homes following a hospital stay. Meals on Wheels comes into these homes with nourishing food Monday through Friday.

Because of the volume of need, our routes are broken down into three areas: North, South, and Middle. These meals are delivered between 11:00am and 1:00pm and consist of a hot, ready to eat dinner within an insulated, recyclable container. Delivery of a meal once a day also means more than a meal to the recipients. The personal touch of a warm and friendly visitor can do wonders to brighten their day. To receive Meals on Wheels certain criteria must be met and there is a recommended donation of $3.00/day usually collected weekly. Again, as with Seabreeze Dining, no one is turned away for lack of payment. For further information on Meals on Wheels call toll free 1-888-44-MEALS. And if you’d like to volunteer, please call our Meals on Wheels Volunteer Coordinator Carolyn Ingalls at (401) 295-7054
