Stay Involved

Thank you to all the members of the community who have already participated in a Healthy Places by Design event to help us craft a vision for a healthier North Kingstown!  Continue to stay involved by helping turn that vision into a reality.

Whether you have already participated in a community event or you are new to the project, you can stay involved in by participating in one or more of our Working Groups.  There are four Working Groups focused on the following four topics:

-Walking and Biking:  How can we increase connectivity throughout town and reduce barriers to walking and biking?
-Access to Healthy Food:  How can we increase access to healthy food and improve collaborations between local partners?
-Public Spaces:  How can we increase access and awareness of local parks and public spaces and prioritize future needs?
-Neighborhoods and Villages:  How can we enhance our existing neighborhoods and villages and create a vision for emerging village centers?

We have envisioned three options for community members to stay involved in these Working Groups.

-Project Champion:  You are interested in attending multiple meetings and want to take action for implementing change in the community.
-Project Supporter:  You are interested in attending a few meetings and want to track the progress of recommendations closely to understand when you are most needed.
-Interested Citizen:  You are interested in receiving emails to stay up-to-date on what is happening.

Upcoming Working Group Meetings (all meetings are open to the public)

December 6, 9:30-10:30am:  Access to Healthy Food- Members of the working group will be focused on prioritizing recommendations for short and long-term activities. The meeting will be held at the West Bay Family YMCA, 7540 Post Road, North Kingstown.

December 15, 6:30-8:30pm:  Villages- The Town will be presenting the phase II report of its ongoing village study project.  The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the villages of Allenton, Hamilton, Lafayette and Wickford Junction with an emphasis on how to preserve the character of these villages into the future, and direct appropriate levels of growth to each of these existing or future village areas.  The meeting will be held at the Hamilton Elementary School cafeteria, 25 Salisbury Avenue, North Kingstown.
