N.K. Water Has Won the RI Best Tasting
Drinking Water Award 2008 The drinking water taste test was held at the
Atlantic States Rural Water and Wastewater Association’s Annual Rhode Island
Conference & Exhibition.

Senior Center Receives National Accreditation:
The North Kingstown Senior Center at Beechwood House underwent a year long
Self-Assessment process leading to Accreditation from the National Council on
Aging. National Accreditation demonstrates the senior center has
undergone a process of intensive scrutiny into nine specific areas of senior
center operation: Purpose, Community, Governance, Administration, Program,
Evaluation, Fiscal Management, Records and Reports, and Facility. The
senior center received high praise in all areas. Applications for
renewal of Accreditation status are submitted every five years. Copies
of the Final Report are available for public viewing at the senior center.
North
Kingstown Town Manager, Richard Kerbel, received the
Distinguished Budget
Presentation Award
from the Government Finance Officer's Association for the 2000 Budget Document.
Cynthia J. Olobri was named Government Finance Officer of the Year for the
State of Rhode Island by the Government
Finance Officer Association (GFOA).
North
Kingstown Water Department received an award from the Atlantic States Rural
Water and Wastewater Association
in the category of "Best Tasting Non-disinfected Drinking Water".
North
Kingstown Town Council was given the Senator John H. Chafee conservation
award for their groundwater protection
efforts.
The
North Kingstown Public Works Department was given a special recognition
award to their Summer 2000 Youth
Litter Corps by the Department of Environmental Management Ocean State Cleanup and Recycling
Program.
